Hi, reporters! I am currently at the IRE Conference (send me an email if you are too!) and am learning plenty of cool new tools right off the bat. This one comes from Anna Massoglia, a freelance journalist and my co-panelist here at IRE.
She recommended SiteDelta for following changes to webpages. In the past I’ve recommended some similar tools, like Distill. Unlike some other web monitoring tools, though, SiteDelta doesn’t just alert you - it walks you through and highlights each change to a webpage since you started monitoring.
The only limitation is that it’s only on Firefox, a pretty privacy- and security-conscious web browser. So you’ll need to download and install Firefox if you don’t have it, then install the SiteDelta extension and give it permission to watch the site you visit.
Tracking website changes can be tough, or just plain expensive. I have my eye on some other tools, with differnt features that I’m hoping to share soon as well. Watch those websites, reporters!
