Hello, reporters! Decided to do a bit of a different one today: more focused on consumption than production.
You may be aware of Substack, since it’s the very tool that sends you this newsletter. But in the past few years, it’s also grown into a full-blown social site, along the lines of Medium or LinkedIn.
These days, you can subscribe to not just TFR but individual authors, social feeds or even just topics. The new Substack home page lays out all of these options, and I’ve been surprised at how many new readers made their way to TFR from here.
Substack being similar to Medium and LinkedIn, though, does mean you might encounter a bit of a jabbering mob. Social feeds always come with influencers, “thought leaders” and so on who might not be of interest. But it’s also got your usual news outlets, journalists and industry chatter.
I don’t check out Medium much anymore, due to it going behind a paywall. And LinkedIn is obviously very work-focused. Substack has really popped into a surprising venue for thoughts, memes, posts and yes, newsletters. Keep up with the latest, reporters!
